Web Site Design by Viki Barefoot

When you're ready for a well designed, smoothly functioning web site; When you're ready for Prime Time on the web; when your ready for a web site specifically designed to showcase your art or your business then it's time to give me a call.

I work with accomplished artists, small restaurants and small businesses.

I will work closely with you throughout the process of creating your site. No surprises.  My pricing falls between $500 and $3,000 per site depending on many factors.  I am willing to listen and make accommodations.

The most I can pay $250.

I want to update my site myself.

Images: I will work with any images that you give me. I prefer high resolution TIFF's (300 dpi at approx 3000 by 4000 px).  The quality of the images on your site is totally dependant on the quality of the images that you provide. On many occasions I will purchase images for your site.  The price rarely goes over $25 for an entire site.

Copy: I will work with the copy that you give me, however, I will make changes regarding grammar, spelling, syntax, etc.  Copy must be provided in .txt format. One way to do that is to copy what you want into an email. Do not send copy in Word or any other format other than .txt or rich text. All copy must be submitted electronically.

Time frame:  I usually have two, three and sometimes four projects running simultaneously.  I consider this my art and the creation of a web site involves the creative process - I always study the work of the artists and the design of the site comes from that work. I work alone in my home office so sometimes there can be up to a six week time frame to complete your web site. None of my clients has ever been sorry for the wait.

Your Host: Your domain and host for one year will cost you $65 for the first year and $50 for every year there after. This covers all the emails you can handle and everything else you could want from a host. (I make no money on this. I just love this host and have been working with them for years: 123ehost.com.) I prefer to do the set up (always in your name only) to avoid problems.

Search Engine Optimization: Every site I build is built to the specifications of the search engines. Realistically you only have three search engines to worry about: Google, MSN and Yahoo - they get 90% of the traffic.  After that it's up to you to get your site promoted. I can help, for an extra fee, to get you listed in appropriate directories that will drive traffic to your site.  I recommend news releases, cross linking with appropriate sites such as your community bulletin board, etc. But there is no magic bullet to get traffic to your site.

Restaurants: All restaurants want images of their food on their site, and that's always a good idea. But images of food that you see in magazines and on other sites were most likely taken in a studio by a professional food photographer.  I can find beautiful, professional images of food that you serve and I always recommend professional images as opposed to images taken in the restaurant with your own camera.  It's ok to use images that you take yourself of the interior of your restaurant, but again, professional is better.  Only take pictures of your bar, the seating areas (indoor and/or outdoor) and perhaps the waiting area filled with people.  Your potential clients don't want to see pictures of the bathrooms or the kitchens or the meal preparation. Those are mysteries best left to the imagination.

Small Business:  I always recommend a professional portrait of the owner/s (it doesn't have to be formal) and a professional photograph of the employees, either individually if there are only a couple or as a group if there are more than 7 or so. Images of the employees are best when taken at their place of work, i.e., their work station.  If you don't have a tag line creating your web site is the time to come up with one.  Take time when writing a description of your service and emphasize your differences from your competition.
